I’m Rachel Peterson, the person who makes Sarah shine on social media. I collaborate with her on the weekly Friday email and build a framework for our online strategy that we can use…or push against! I am an Iowa native who transplanted to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in 2018. I discovered the mountains, trails, and granola lifestyle of Bend, Oregon and never left. I’m generally tied to my computer or phone working on digital strategy for clients in one of Bend’s 800 coffee shops. But after work I shut down and hit the road or trails to train for whatever crazy adventure I have up my sleeve.
WHAT MAKES ME CHRONICALLY CURIOUS IN LIFE:
Before majoring in journalism, I had a double major in sociology and anthropology. I chose these majors because people make me curious. Cultures make me curious. I think so many problems in our world could be solved if we sought to get curious with other people and cultures. Seeking out, exploring, and learning new perspectives, ways of life, and ideologies sparks an infinite amount of curiosity in me.
I'm a long distance runner (marathon and ultra marathons) Running a lot of miles is a talent, right?!
I HELP POSITIVELY IMPACT OUR LEADERS BY:
I share a passion with Sarah about mental health and ADHD, specifically in the workplace. I'm very fortunate when I had a breakdown and found myself curled up underneath my desk at work, I had a boss who understood mental health and supported me. I'm also very aware this is not the norm for most businesses and leaders. I want to make mental health a priority for leaders. I want to change the way mental health is talked about and approached at work.
I PLAY FULLY BRAVE BY:
In 2019 I was diagnosed with cancer and beat it nine months later. I have vowed to find joy in every moment of life and say yes to the things that bring me pure joy. I've learned that saying no is a very brave act.
