What is Your Stress Type?

May 16, 2020 Mental Health
Red New Year Social Media Graphic

We recently came across this article on Thrive Global by Leanne Williams, Ph. D., founder of the Stanford Center for Precision Mental Health and Wellness. The short version: when under periods of extreme negative stress, biology interferes and our brains literally short circuit. Dr. Williams and her team identified six ways that the brain short circuits and causes certain sets of mental health symptoms to arise. These are called biotypes. I’m a big fan of neuroscience and I like to know the why behind what I’m experiencing. We pulled together the six biotypes in the graphics below as a helpful resource for you!
